Kathleen Bailer — Children's Art Carnival
Ms. Bailer holds a BS from Bucknell University in Art, and an MS in Elementary
and Museum Education from Bank Street College of Education. She is certi-
fied to teach in NY and MA. Ms. Bailer has taught in public and private schools
in the US and abroad. She is an educational consultant and the designer
of Magic MudTM, a natual clay kit for home and school use.
David Lee Brown — Studio Painting, 3/D Studio, Drawing
Mr. Brown's education includes Cranbrook Academy of Art, NC State College
of Design, and a Jose de Rivera apprenticeship. Currently, he is tenured pro-
fessor at Pratt Institute. A sculptor with many monumental sculptures around
the world, Mr. Brown has been a consultant with Walt Disney Imagineering
for over a decade. A contemporary of Mabel D'Amico, Mr. Brown shared
her love of found objects.
Linda Capello— Drawing
Ms. Capello graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology studying
illustration. She has taught at Guild Hall, the Parrish Art Museum, and was
art department head at the Bialik School in Brooklyn, NY. She has exhibited
her work locally and in NYC most recently at the Hampton Road Gallery in
Southampton. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women and is a mem-
ber of Southamtpon Artists and the Artists Alliance of East Hampton.
Ralph Carpentier — Studio Painting
Mr. Carpentier has taught at the East Hampton School District, Southamp-
ton College, NYU, and the People’s Art Center of MoMA. He has illustrated
books for children and adults including An Illustrated History of East Hampton.
He created the East Hampton Town Marine Museum and has served as its
director for many years. Mr. Carpentier is an exhibiting landscape painter
with Pamela Williams Gallery, Amagansett and Nabi Gallery, NYC.
Christine Chew Smith — Pastel
Ms. Chew Smith received her BA from the University of Colorado. She also
studied with the Art Students League. Known for her landscape paintings
for their dramatic skies, barns and the sea, she prefers pastels for recording
quick impressions. She also works in other media. Her work has been exhib-
ited widely on Eastern Long Island since the 1970's and she is listed in Who's
Who of American Women.
Rosamaria Eisler — Printing
An artist and educator, Ms. Eilser is an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University
teaching different printmaking techniques. She is an active member of sev-
eral art associations and former president of South Bay Art Association. Ms.
Eisler exhibits in solo, invitational and group shows and her printmaking work
has garnered art awards including Best in Shows and is including in many
collections. She gives demonstrations and lectures on printmaking and has
her studio in Ridge, NY.
Jim Gemake — 3/D Studio
Mr. Gemake is a self taught artist whose work has appeared in a number of
exhibitions and galleries throughout the Hamptons and the tri-state area.
He describes his "art of the discarded object" as a process-related creation
that follows the journey of his objects from abandonment to salvation in the
creative process.
Rex Lau — Studio Painting
Mr. Lau attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC. He has had solo exhibi-
tions at Lizan-Tops in East Hampton, Fine Arts Gallery in Southampton, and
the Kouros and Michael Walls Galleries in NYC. Group shows include the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC and Museo Rufino Tamayon, Mexico. He
was awarded the Pollock-Krasner Fellowship in 1995 and his work is included
in the collections of the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, the Yale University Art
Gallery, CT, and the Guggenheim Museum, NY

Diane Mayo — Ceramic Studio
Ms. Mayo received her BFA from Syracuse University and her MFA from the
University of Massachusetts. She has had solo exhibitions at Lizan-Tops and
the Vered galleries in East Hampton, Gallerie Mielich-Bender in Munich,
Germany. Her group exhibitions include the Kouros and O'Hara Galleries in
NYC. She currently resides in Montauk.
Bill Nagle — Children's Studio, Afternoon Studio, Collage
Mr. Nagle received his BA from Hobart College and studied Art Educationat
New York University. He taught at the Hampton Day School in Bridgehampton
for 16 years. His local landscape paintings have been exhibited at Ashawagh
Hall in Springs and the Clark Gallery in Southampton.
Nan Orshefsky — Collage
Ms. Orshefsky graduated from Pomona College in CA and worked as a news-
paper writer/cartoonist. She studied collage with Jean Varda at CA School
of Fine Arts. She has had one person shows in Paris, Hong Kong, and locally
and has exhibited in group shows throughout the East End. She works in various
media including found objects, "gyotaku" (Japanese fish prints), and exotic
papers. She says, "the papers collaborate with me to make the pictures."
Michael Rosch — Studio Painting, 3/D Studio
Mr. Rosch is a painter and sculptor who lives and works in East Hampton. He
has been Professor of Art at Southampton College, LIU, since 1990 where he
is also Director of Arts and Media Summer Program.
Anne Seelbach — Watercolor
With an MFA from Hunter College, Ms. Seelbach taught art classes at The
Parrish Art Museum, the University of Rhode Island, Northeastern University,
and Parsons School of Design. She was a Painting Fellow at the Radcliffe
Institute of Advanced Studies in Cambridge, MA, Her work is in museum,
corporate and private collections in the US and Europe.
Ophrah Shemesh — Watercolor
Ms. Shemesh teaches at the NY Studio School of Drawing, Painting and
Sculpture. She is an instructor at Kremer Pigments, NY and at Artworkshop.
italia. She has taught at the International Art School in Todi, Italy, and was
Program Director at the NYSS, NY. She has had one-woman shows in NY,
Boston, Italy, San Francisco, and Israel.
Tom Williams — Portrait Sculpture, Sculpture from the Model
Mr. Williams is a figurative sculptor whose commissions include The Chapel,
GA Institute of Technology, the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games Headquar-
ters, and Lenox Hill Hospital, NY. His work has been featured in Style and Fine
Woodworking Design, and is in the collection of the Oregon Museum of Art.
